Box 2574 Fido Net 1:352/333 :: :: Olympia, WA 360-786-9629 :: :: 98507-2574 USA The Quarto Mundista BBS :: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: DOCUMENT: CTG2_1.TXT CONFERENCE OF TRIBAL GOVERNMENTS SECOND SESSION CONFERENCE RESOLUTION Re: State Legislation on Minority Affairs WHEREAS, the Conference of Tribal Governments meeting at Tyee Motor Inn, Tumwater, Washington on April 5, 6, 7, 1977 in Second Session; and WHEREAS, the Governor, by Executive request, has a Bill in State Legislature, "The Reorganization Bill", Senate Bill 2559 and House Bill 705, created a "Citizen Advisory Group", and WHEREAS, the Indian Tribes are the Original Natives of this State and are dual citizens of this Country and State; and WHEREAS, the Bill will set up a melting pot of minorities which would probably be given a pot of Operation Monies that would be fought over by the minorities; and WHEREAS, the Indian Tribes have retained a vast amount of Land, retained Rights under Treaties and are supported by Law and Court Cases as Sovereign Tribal Governments; and WHEREAS, American Indians in the 48 states and Alaska are holders in perpetuity of vast Natural Resources and land base that was set aside by Solemn Treaty with the United States Government; and WHEREAS, the Tribes and the State of Washington, along with the United States Government, must take immediate and long range steps and/or plans to protect in entirety and perpetuity all Natural Resources and Rights; inherent Treaty Sovereign inclusive; and WHEREAS, Natural Resources and Land Base, unique rights must always be in total control of Indian Tribes. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Tribal Governments Leadership oppose the Reorganization Bill, Senate Bill 2559 and House Bill 705, that would lump all the minorities and the Indian people into one melting pot.
