The ESCHEAT PROVISION of the Act be amended so that in the instance when there are no HEIRS that are ENROLLED members of that reservation, the property would then escheat (legal term definition: a person dying without a will or legal heirs) to the Tribe. 2. The Congress appropriated funds for the land acquisition section under the Indian Reorganization Act be amended to reflect this principle. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians submit the above recommendation to the 41st Annual Convention of the National Congress of American Indians for their consideration and support. CERTIFICATION The foregoing resolution was duly endorsed at the Annual Conference of the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians, at Spokane, Washington, on September 8, 1984, with a quorum present and voting. __________________________ ____________________________ Delbert Frank, President Faith Mayhew, Secretary -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- To have a current Center For World Indigenous Studies Publication Catalogue sent to you via e-mail, send a request to jburrows@halcyon.com FTP ftp://ftp.halcyon.com/pub/FWDP/CWIS/cwis-cat.txt Center For World Indigenous Studies P.O.
