In Finnmark–located above the Arctic Circle in northern Norway on the Barents Sea–reindeer-herding is the core of Sami identity and culture. Challenges to the continuity of this 3,000-year-old culture include the petroleum industry, climate change, and the allure of cities.

Chief George Manuel Memorial Indigenous Library

The library is dedicated to the memory of Secwepemc Chief George Manuel (1921-1989), to the nations of the Fourth World and to the elders and generations to come.
