Backing brutal dictators and religious fanatics in order to control access to strategic resources is nothing new for the imperial powers of Britain, France and the United States, but coordinating international mercenary expeditions under the guise of humanitarian interventions is a  particularly perverted culmination of a half century of the international human rights regime. As Black Agenda Report executive editor Glen Ford reports, the new imperial system combine of NATO and AFRICOM puts America and its allies in the drivers seat for reconquering Africa.
