DOCUMENT: WPPF.TXT Liberation through emancipation and participation WEST PAPUAN PEOPLES FRONT Postbus 75916 1007 AX Amsterdam The Netherlands The West Papuan Peoples Front (WPPF)* is a member organisation of the Organisasi Papua Merdeka (OPM), the liberation movement of West Papua. * West Papua Volksfront (WPVF) * WPPF is a political, revolutionary organisation of Papuans in the 'free world', based in the Netherlands. * WPPF represents where possible the compatriots who are under Indonesian occupation and have no right on free organisation nor on freedom of speech. * WPPF maintains contacts with diverse humanitarian and environmental organisations in order to look after the interests of all West Papuans. * WPPF is present at sessions of the International organisations (eg. UN and EEC) to represent the people of West Papua. * WPPF organises lectures, manifestations and brochures about the situation in West Papua. * WPPF publishes Suara Papua, a bi-monthly magazine in the Malay Language; Suara Papua is a platform to communicate on issues concerning the liberation struggle of the West Papuans. Enlightenment/Information is one of the major purposes of the West Papuan Peoples Front. In this WPPF likes to cooperate with other movements and (action) groups; many problems which are threatening the Papuan people do also occur in other parts of the world: * transmigration also makes victims among the Indonesians, in Bangladesh, in Ethiopia...; * counterinsurgency activities of evangelistic sects and the church as an institute, occur wherever peoples are fighting for self-determination and liberation; * in many countries women do not have the free disposal of their own body and their own life (read: fertility); * destruction of culture is a threat to all indigenous peoples in the world; * worldwide the destruction of tropical rainforests is threatening the livelihood and environment of indigenous peoples; * human rights and peoples' rights are violated in many states; * the dominance of Western and Japanese capital is responsible for the exploitation of the labour and the natural resources of many peoples; * because of the strategic interests of the US many puppet regimes are kept in power. While working for the people of West Papua, WPPF wants to establish cooperation with other movements and (action) groups, in the worldwide struggle against injustice and exploitation. WPPF sees the struggle for independence of the people of West Papua as a struggle for liberation: LIBERATION FROM EXPLOITATION, FROM OPPRESSION, FROM POVERTY, FROM RACISM, FROM ECOLOGICAL DESTRUCTION, FROM VIOLATION OF FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS... The struggle for independence is a struggle for liberation is a struggle for emancipation: EVERY PEOPLE, EVERY CULTURE, EVERY MAN, EVERY WOMAN HAS THE RIGHT TO DEVELOP ACCORDING TO HIS/HER OWN OPINION, HAS THE RIGHT TO SELF-DETERMINATION. In this context WPPF is in solidarity with many people's movements in the world. In their own region, the Pacific, WPPF values organisations as: MelSol (Melanesian Solidarity), NFIP (Nuclear Free and Independent Pacific), and the Network of Indigenous Peoples in Asia-Pacific. WPPF is a non-subsidized organisation, the limits of activities are determined by the financial means. * Support the people of West Papua and her resistance against foreign domination and exploitation. * Support the people of West Papua in saving their environment from destruction. * Support the people of West Papua and her struggle for self- determination. * Support and read the Suara Papua by taking a subscription. * Support the West Papuan Peoples Front.
